Marine Pilot Transfer
Curry Kenny’s area of operation stretches from the bases at Mackay and Hamilton Island, to the inner and outer anchorage of Mackay/Hay Point and out to the Hydrographers Passage boarding ground of Blossom Bank, some 111nm from Mackay and incorporates Gladstone area since the new contract commenced January 1 2009.
Since 1984 these services have been conducted by on a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week basis.
In the twenty four years of operations Curry Kenny has carried out MPT operations from:
- Hamilton Island to Blossom Bank
- Hamilton Island to Edward Island
- Mackay to Blossom Bank
- Mackay to Hay Point/Dalrymple Bay Anchorage
- Mackay to Off Shore anchorage
- Mackay and Hamilton Island to Three Rocks
As a result of the number of multiple pilot movements that are combined into one flight mission Curry Kenny also has significant experience in movements from vessel to vessel. A substantial portion of this experience has been gained in the challenging IFR operating environment and usually many miles off shore at the Blossom Bank boarding grounds.
In this time Curry Kenny has carried out;
- 11,927 total marine pilot transfers
- 4,592 transfers to Blossom Bank in the last 5 years
- Approximately 100 transfers to Edward Island in the last 5 years
- Approximately 500 anchorage transfers in the last 5 years
- In the past 12 months Curry Kenny have conducted the following flight hours on MPT operations;
- IFR Twin engine night operations, 753hrs
- IFR Twin engine day operations, 150hrs
- VFR single engine day operations, 560hrs
- Total flight time for all MPT operations, 1,463hrs
